How we pick
- Quality first. We compare independent review scores, the roaster's track record, and how fresh the lot is. Commission never decides a pick.
- Evidence on every pick. Most scores today come from Coffee Review, an independent publication that roasters pay to submit coffees to. We're starting our own blind tastings of coffee bought at retail so our picks don't rely on any one source.
- Honest gaps. When there's no bag we trust in stock, we say so instead of filling the space.
- Checked monthly. Small lots sell out in weeks. We recheck price and stock every month; the date is at the top of this page.
Buying Jamaica Blue Mountain or Kona? Look for “100% Jamaica Blue Mountain” or “100% Kona” on the bag. “Blend” or “style” usually means mostly other coffee.
